Your Project: CULMINATING PERFORMANCE TASK (Semester Exam Grade)
Identify someone (or a group) who has committed a horrible atrocity against another person or group of people. Research to identify the who, what, when, where, why of the atrocity. Create a multi-media presentation that portrays the atrocity and presents a claim about the possibilities and limitations of forgiveness associated with this atrocity. Support claims with specific evidence from multiple sources.
Independent Research Notes (25%)
Group Outline (Including Assigned Roles for Presentation) 25%
Group Presentation (Rubric will include both an overall group performance score and independent scoring for assigned roles) 50%
Today's Task: Outline and Begin Creating Presentation
Begin at a table with your group today. Before you begin building your presentation, I need you to do two things:
1. Design your presentation as an outline on the storyboard handout.
2. Write names on slides/frames of the outline to assign each group member to be personally responsible for a section of the finished product. Make sure that each group member is given an equal assignment.
I will grade your individual research and your group outline as process grades that will account for 50% of the final grade.
TASK 2: Outline (25%)
Use the storyboard handout to design your presentation. Whether you are doing a PowerPoint, Prezi, or video, design each frame with the type of image you would like to use, basic points for the text in that frame, and the source you are using for this information. After you have outlined your presentation, assign each group member an equal portion of the presentation that will be that person’s responsibility. As you present, I will have your outline in front of me and grade each group member individually on that portion of the presentation. You will also be given a group grade on the presentation as a whole.
When you finish your outline, begin creating your presentation!
Think about the rhetorical triangle...
Ethos- You will seem credible if you cite your research and seem reasonable and fair in your claims
Logos- Give us all of the facts. Back up your claims with evidence.
Pathos- Appeal to our emotions. Who will you humanize? If you are claiming that your subject is unforgivable, grab our heart-strings with the victims. If you are claiming that your subject is a victim as well, how can you make us see your subject as something other than a monster?
